Hitman 2: Silent Assasain Review
by 007

Brought back into the business by treason, Agent 47 returns as a Hitman for the second time but with plans of corrupting the business that took him out of retirement. As you visit the dark places of the world, you trust no one and get the job done right and make no mistakes. With your trade, you learn how to get the job done right and what it takes to get it done. As Agent 47, you build your own fate. Eidos has brought the PC title to the Xbox but with more stealth and action than you can shake a stick at. The Agent is back, with vengeance.

Features:

• Contracts take you all over the world
• Stalk your enemies until it comes time to eliminate them
• A full arsenal of weapons to aid in executing your contracts
• Stealth brought to a whole new level

Gameplay:

Hitman 2 stays true to its name by becoming a game that forces you to make smart decision, and play your game with style and finesse rather than just have the entire mission told to you. Nothing is given to you on a silver platter, and Hitman 2 is unique because it’s your performance on your mission which gets marked, rather than your ability to complete some objectives. Rather than having one way into a situation, there is more than one way to complete your objectives which entitles you to more freedom and opportunities to get through.

Like every good agent, Agent 47 has to be on top of his missions, and always come prepared for any possible situation. In aid, Agent 47 has an innovative list of weapons and gadgets powerful and stealth enough to get him through anything. What tops all of this off is that you’re able to obtain the weapons you’ve got through each mission in and out. Along with weapons comes Agent 47’s own safety, and disguises are yet another way 47 gets around. By obtaining a disguise, 47 can really go places unnoticed, which is key during certain situations in the game.

Besides from just getting the job done and eliminating your target, you’ve got to be careful with what you do after you have eliminated your target. Leaving the body in a hallway orarea will just bring more possible danger to you as well as multiple bodies. It’s always a smart decision to quickly take a minute to put the body somewhere the human eye wouldn’t clearly notice.

Graphics:

Hitman 2 is simply another fine example of a game that attempts to go to the limits of using the Xbox’s powerful system to develop terrific visuals and animations so intense, the actions you see will stimulate your very body. The overall game itself is a show to see. All of the international locations are well rendered right down to the core. Agent 47 is on another level with his sharp design, invigorating style, and his clothing to give himself the assassin feel.

Where Hitman 2 especially stands out is its animations which are by far, tremendously done to perfection. What’s better than have multiple animations at once? I haven’t been seeing this in many games. Picture 47 clobbering his target, then dragging the body with one hand andng doors and objects with the other hand.

Sound:

The musical score in Hitman 2 is provided by the Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra. Without a doubt, the music provided by the Symphony leaves Hitman 2 on top of the Xbox charts of best musical score for a game. There are very few titles that can accomplish what Hitman 2 has (except Halo). The music pulls you into the game, as the gameplay does as well. What drags down the audio is the satisfactory approach to sound effects. You’ll usually be hearing the gunshots coming from 47’s weapons and also the screams from your target, but that’s really it. It also hurts to know that Surround Sound wasn’t available, Hitman 2 called for it.

Overall:

Hitman 2 has a complete combination of stealth and action, good enough to keep you in your seat looking for more. The game succeeds because it delivers what it set out to do and so much more, which is bring more than an ordinary Hitman’s life into your fingertips. The only downside effect for Hitman 2 is that it delivered a hit too early before the long awaited Holiday season, which altogether could have affected its overall performance to all gamers. Nevertheless, Hitman 2 is nothing but another title successful of delivering what we want…a good game.
