Bicycle Casino Review
by 007
When you take a look at the library of games for the Xbox, there’s quite a bit of selection for one to choose. In just about three year’s we’ve seen it all with the Xbox, but not so much from the gambling genre. You can forget about that now because Leaping Lizard Software has developed Bicycle Casino, a casino game with supposedly 500 game variations. With plenty of different casino games, customizations, and Xbox Live play, Bicycle Casino just might have the makings of a solid casino title. Continue reading our review to find out if this title hits the jackpot or busts out.
Gameplay:
Bicycle Casino attempts to put you into an authentic casino environment. While it does succeed, it hardly presents itself in a way that would suffice gamers. Once you’ve created your character (you have to) you can then get your game on in the casino. The game features over 25 different casino games to get in on, but you actually aren’t looking at over 25 unique games. You’ll find numerous amounts of card games and other games that will add up together. It really doesn’t matter, because Bicycle Casino really gets the job done with the amount of selection. The game is primarily focused on Texas Hold’Em, but it’s poorly executed and doesn’t really win any significant points for the title. The game claims to have 500 game variations, which is really pushing it. However, each game will have its options, types, and variations that will supposedly bring the variation total to 500.
The games biggest strength is its Xbox Live compatibility. While you will be exposed to different players, the atmosphere and gameplay won’t. The only difference you’re going to see will possibly be stronger and smarter opponents, but that’s all.
The game is rather weak visually. Casinos should definitely look a lot better than what you’re getting in Bicycle Casino. You’ll usually have of life in Casinos, but the game is more dark than vibrant. Characters are just simply awful and poorly designed, and the camera angles are few and displayed badly. The AI in Bicycle Casino is none the least a real disappointment. It’s real tough to know your opponents and the game their playing. Sometimes you’ll have a slight idea, but most of the game you’ll be making big risks. There’s going to be many questionable calls, so it’s something you’re going to have to get used to in Bicycle Casino. The game doesn’t do much in the audio department. You’ll get the occasional emotion from players, but not much from these lifeless characters. Sound effects are done right, but you won’t find much innovation.
Overall:
Bicycle Casino is nothing more than a huge bust. Being a person that will occasionally gamble, it certainly was one picking up this game. Sure, the hardcore gambler is going to love the amount of games and variations, but Leaping Lizard Software just hasn’t developed a truly innovative casino environment that can sell. Being priced at $30 USD, you might think casino gamers might get their moneys worth. The truth is you could a lot better than Bicycle Casino. If waiting another year for a casino title to be released is the only option, then I’d suggest waiting.
