Gotham Games formed

Take-Two Interactive announced today the formation of a new publishing label, Gotham Games. This new brand will be lead by Take-Two’s VP of Publishing and Business development, Jamie Leece, and will take on the publishing of all of Take-Two Interactive’s value priced games for PSOne, as well as the publishing of a number of upcoming titles. While more are expected to be added in the future, the current line-up of titles set for publishing under this new brand include: Conflict: Desert Storm for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC platforms (fall), the Xbox version of Serious Sam (winter), Celebrity Deathmatch for PSOne (winter), and Austin Powers Pinball for PSOne (fall).

Kelly Sumner, Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Take-Two's goal is for Gotham Games to become a sought-after label associated with products for the mass market, just as Rockstar Games has created a commanding position in the creation of revolutionary new intellectual property, and Gathering of Developers is a well-known premium label for the PC market. The creation of the Gotham Games label will provide Take-Two with a dedicated vehicle to target the mass market consumer, a segment which we expect to continue to expand rapidly due to the recent reduction in hardware pricing and resulting increase in household penetration rates. With more than 60 titles in development in our overall publishing business, Take-Two has a solid pipeline of diversified products for the balance of fiscal 2002 and continuing into 2003."

The announcement of Gotham Games was only part of Take-Two’s announcements this morning. The company also announced that effective immediately they’ll be publishing all their titles under three labels: Rockstar Games, Gathering of Developers and Gotham Games. While Rockstar will remain focused on console development, Gathering of Developers will be used primarily for PC development.
